Dentist Near Cochituate

Convenient Access from Cochituate

Plan on about 13 minutes for the 6-mile drive from the southern end of Wayland to Sudbury Dental Excellence. Patients looking for a dentist near Cochituate head up Route 27 and across Route 20 to our office in South Sudbury, where three dentists, including a periodontist, care for children, parents and grandparents. Appointments start at 7 AM on weekdays, with Saturday mornings available too.

From Wayland Middle School at 201 Main Street, follow the driveway out to Main Street (Route 27) and turn north. Main Street becomes Cochituate Road and carries you up to Wayland Center. There, turn left onto Route 20 (Boston Post Rd) and drive west about 2.9 miles into Sudbury, then turn right onto Concord Road; our office at 15 Concord Rd, Sudbury, MA 01776 is a short way up, next to Goodnow Library.

Route 20 traffic builds at rush hour, so leave a few extra minutes for late-afternoon visits. You can pin our address on Google Maps ahead of time. Residents of the rest of town can read our Wayland page, and neighbors across the Framingham line have a Saxonville page.

Cochituate Families and a Practice Built for Every Generation

Cochituate is the southern village of Wayland, a Middlesex County town, and a census-designated place home to roughly half the town's residents. Its name means "swift river" in the Algonquian language and refers to Cochituate Brook, which links Lake Cochituate to the Sudbury River. There is a shared history with our side of the line too: Wayland was called East Sudbury until 1835.

Main Street, which is Route 27, runs through the middle of the village, about 3 miles south of Wayland Center and 3 miles north of Natick Center. Route 30 crosses the southern part, and the Mass Pike passes through as well. Wayland Middle School, the town's school for grades 6 through 8, sits right on Main Street.

Water shapes the landscape. Lake Cochituate, a 625-acre chain of ponds shared by Natick, Wayland and Framingham, served as Boston's first major water supply and was built between 1848 and 1863; Wayland Town Beach sits on its North Pond. Dudley Pond, also within the village, is used year-round for boating, fishing and ice fishing.

Census survey data show that most homes in the village are owner-occupied single-family houses. That settled, residential character suits a long-term relationship with one dental office, where your history and x-rays build up over the years.

Dental Needs Across Cochituate's Age Groups

Census figures show a village where nearly a quarter of residents are under 18 and roughly one in five is 65 or older. That mix means a single household may need sealants for a grade-schooler, wisdom teeth advice for a teen and implant planning for a grandparent. Our three dentists handle all of it under one roof.

For older adults, missing teeth and gum health are the big questions. We offer single implants, implant bridges, implant dentures and All-On-4, and our periodontist provides scaling and root planing, gum grafting and bone grafting in-house. Cone Beam 3D imaging, which captures a scan in under 10 seconds, supports careful planning.

Younger patients benefit from early, routine care. Cleanings, fluoride and sealants protect new teeth, and morning appointments from 7 AM can help students at Wayland Middle School keep their school day intact. If you are new to our office, the Your First Visit page explains how that initial appointment works.

Comfort matters at every age. Nitrous oxide is available for children and adults, and oral conscious sedation can help patients with moderate or severe anxiety or a long procedure.

New patients have two ways to get started at a set price. Those without insurance and without periodontal disease can book a $99 cleaning, exam and x-ray, which covers a full cleaning, an oral health exam and all standard x-rays. A new patient with a sudden toothache can begin with a $49 emergency exam and x-ray, including a focused exam and treatment recommendations.

Services for Patients Who Want a Dentist Near Cochituate

  • Dental Implants

Single implants, implant bridges, implant dentures and All-On-4 restore chewing and confidence. Grandparents in Cochituate can plan the whole process close to home, with Savings Plan members saving 15% on implant-related services.

  • Periodontics

Our periodontist treats gum disease with scaling and root planing, antibiotics and gum or bone grafting. Healthy gums also matter before implant treatment begins.

  • Family Dentistry

One office can track the whole household, from a middle schooler's first sealants to a grandparent's oral cancer screening. Routine visits pair a thorough cleaning with an exam and digital x-rays when they are due.

  • Restorative Dentistry

Older fillings eventually wear out, and teeth crack under years of chewing. Tooth-colored composite, root canal therapy and CEREC crowns, made in a single visit from digital impressions, put those teeth back to work.

  • Cosmetic Dentistry

KoR whitening, bonding and porcelain veneers brighten and reshape your smile. A smile makeover can combine treatments for a bigger change.

What Our Patients Say

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Sudbury Dental Excellence from Cochituate, and how do I get there?

The drive from Wayland Middle School is 6 miles, about 13 minutes. Head north on Route 27 (Main Street, then Cochituate Road) to Wayland Center, turn left onto Route 20 heading west, and turn right on Concord Road in Sudbury. Patients seeking a dentist near Cochituate need no toll road for the trip.

Can implant dentures replace a loose lower denture?

Often, yes. Implant dentures attach to dental implants, so they stay more secure than a denture that rests on the gums alone. Whether they suit you depends on your bone and gum health, which our dentists check with an exam and Cone Beam 3D imaging. Our periodontist can treat gum problems or provide bone grafting first when needed.

What should I do if my crown falls off?

Call the office, keep the crown somewhere safe and bring it with you. Avoid chewing on that side, and a temporary dental cement from a pharmacy can hold it briefly if needed. The team strives to fit urgent problems into the schedule, and the crown may be recemented or replaced, sometimes with a new CEREC crown.

Do you offer bone grafting?

Yes. Bone grafting is part of the periodontal care Dr. Xu provides, along with gum grafting, scaling and root planing, and antibiotics. Grafting can rebuild areas where bone or gum tissue has been lost. Dr. Xu trained in periodontology at Hiroshima University in Japan and earned a periodontal certificate at Boston University.

Is the Savings Plan worthwhile if I only need cleanings?

It can be, especially for uninsured patients. The plan costs $399 a year, or $349 for each additional family member, and it covers two cleanings, exams and x-rays each year. Members also get 20% off dental procedures, 15% off implant-related services and unlimited emergency exams and x-rays if something unexpected happens.
